The Council of Advocacy and Leadership (COAL) Programming Grant applications are now open for the Fall 2026 cycle. These grants are designed to support programs that enrich the educational, cultural, recreational, and social experiences at UB through new or expanded programs.
COAL is made up of presidents from nearly all of UB’s student governments to serve as a unified platform across campuses. Each year, COAL offers programming grants to allow student organizations under each government to apply to secure funding for their programs to make a real difference in student life.
Important Dates:
Applications Open: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026
Deadline: Friday, September 26th at 11:59 PM
Notifications Sent: by Friday, October 30th, 2026
Key Details:
- Eligibility: Your club must be recognized by the Graduate Student Association and have funds centralized in an FSA agency account (which you all do). Grants may be used to fund new programs or expand existing programs.
- Application Process: Club presidents or treasurers should complete the application (Parts I-III), then submit it to Sarah MacDougall (gsa-president@buffalo.edu) and Dan Kulesza (gsa-treasurer@buffalo.edu) for approval. The GSA President will then forward applications to COAL.
- Maximum Award: Up to $5,000 per application. Multiple applications must be submitted if you are running separate programs.
