Ithaca College is again offering a Diversity Scholar Fellowship for graduate students considering careers in higher education. The Fellowship provides funding for a four-day visit to Ithaca College to explore the educational environment at Ithaca College and to attend the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, March 26-29, 2020. College application season is in full swing. People are busy researching degree options, comparing schools, and above all, trying to figure out how to pay for it all. Here at STEPS, we’re always looking for ways to help students pay for school, especially those who have decided to give back by pursuing a degree and career in public service.

While there are plenty of scholarship lists online, we wanted to make sure students going into public service degree programs had a dedicated, up-to-date resource for finding scholarships. The end result is our new scholarships guide. Students can search, read about, and apply to scholarships in 9 different public service fields, including teaching, criminal justice, public health, and social work. Our goal with these guides is to help more students afford college so they can go on to make a difference in a public service career.

The UB Center for Geohazards Studies is pleased to announce a research grant opportunity for graduate students to support research in any discipline that is related to natural hazards.

All applications materials must be received by  March 1st at 5:00 PM EST. Funds are available for projects to start on July 1, 2020

Eligible individuals must be enrolled in a graduate degree program at the University at Buffalo and be a member of the Center for GeoHazards Studies.

The session will be customized for approaching textbooks and technical content more effectively.

The Graduate Student Association at the University at Buffalo stands in solidarity with the #NotAgainSU movement. We condemn the recent Racist and Anti-Semitic acts that have occurred at Syracuse University. All students deserve to feel safe in their campus communities, regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion. These acts of hatred have made these already marginalized populations fear for their safety and question the universities’ commitment to all students. We urge Syracuse University administration to meet all short-term and long-term demands of the #NotAgainSU movement. Syracuse University needs to take action to rectify the harms that have been committed towards students of color. We stand in solidarity with all students of color at Syracuse University and the #NotAgainSU movement.
