UB-EERI ~ UB Regional Earthquake Engineering Symposium

May 5, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

The Annual Spring UB Regional Earthquake Engineering Symposium will allow graduate students in any department at UB, as well as students from invited regional schools, to present their current earthquake-related projects to an audience of students, faculty and researchers.  Boris Jeremic, from UC Davis, is our invited keynote speaker who specializes in the field of earthquake engineering and he will present a seminar on his current research, followed by a question and answer session.  After a provided lunch, a schedule of students and faculty will be able to present brief descriptions of their current projects or research topics about earthquake engineering.  As a final event, tours of the University at Buffalo Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) will be held to showcase current research projects for interested students and faculty.  Additionally, there will be a paper competition in which students can enter a short paper detailing new developments in earthquake and structural engineering (paper topic and prize amounts TBD).  Prizes will be awarded based on the ruling of faculty judges.
