Dr. Marci Bowers is a world renown obstetrical and gynecological surgeon. She is known for her work in clitoral and vaginal restoration and she is the first North American gynecologic surgeon trained to functionally reverse female genital cutting. She has also donated her time on medical mission trips to Africa. Recently, she traveled to Burkina Faso, Africa where she trained local surgeons and together they performed the region’s first clitoral restoration procedure. We are excited to bring this collaborative programming to UB. This event will bring together many clubs and expose students to issues in public health, surgery, international studies, human rights advocacy, gender studies, legal access to healthcare, and humanitarian initiatives. We want to extend an invitation specifically to the UB graduate students and we thought that GSA would be a good avenue.
