Financial Self-Care: Your Relationship with Money
February 15, 2022 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Many of us associate the concept of self-care with elements of consumerism (e.g., retail therapy) but we don’t always have a good sense of our own relationship with money and where it all started. Our relationship with money is complex, endures a lifetime, and it can lead to behaviors that do not always serve us well.
Based on decades of research and common sense principles, this talk explores common traps many of us fall into that get in the way of achieving real financial security and stability. It will reframe the idea of what wealth actually is and also identify some of the unique challenges for women in regard to money through the lifespan. We will also highlight important on-campus resources that promote professional development, financial well-being, and self-care for UB’s graduate students. This presentation is in collaboration with the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center, the Graduate School, and Health Promotion’s Financial/Wellness Coaching Programs.
