FUNDING AT UB:

Plesur Dissertation Travel Award/John Naylor Dissertation Fellowship – These are awarded through the UB History Department.  Ask the Director of Graduate Studies for details.
Mark Diamond Research Fund – Up to $3,000 for PhD students, up to $1500 for MA students
Gender Institute – The Gender Institute provides a variety of funds for research centered on gender and sexuality.
Humanities Institute – Up to $6,000 for interdisciplinary/humanities-based dissertation projects
College of Arts & Sciences Dissertation Fellowship – Up to $6,000 for for graduate students who are in the writing stage of their dissertation or MFA project

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program
Social Science Research Council – The SSRC offers several different grants & fellowships, including a pre-dissertation grant, as
well as the international research dissertation fellowship.
The National Endowment for the Humanities – Most of the NEH funding is for faculty, but some is available for advanced graduate students, too.
The Rhodes ScholarshipAHA Grants – Membership required
Western Association of Women Historians – Membership required

American Philosophical Society Library Resident Research Fellowship – Due in the Spring. History of American science & technology. $2,500/month, 1-3 months.
Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon – Due December 31. Stipend & housing included, short and long-term.
Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library Research Travel Grants – March 15 & September 15 deadlines annually. $2,000.
Gotha Research Centre of Erfurt University – Due October 15; 1,100 euros/month, 1-9 months.
Hoover Institution Library & Archives – Due November 1; up to $2,500.
Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas-Austin – $3,000/month for 1-3 months, Travel stipends of $1,200-1,700. Search the Collections.
Huntington Library Fellowships – Large collection of rare books & manuscripts, mostly British & US history; Short term residency $3,000/month, Long term residency $50,000. Search the Collection.
Virginia Historical Society –  $500/week
Western Washington University’s Center for Pacific Northwest Studies – Due in early October; up to $1000. Search the Collections.
