Innovative blade designs with adaptive features are a proposed solution for wind energy. The ESDRG has explored the aerodynamic response of an out-of-plane transformation. This adaptive technique varies the Twist Angle Distribution (TAD), and thus, local angle of attack along the length of the blade. This innovation is being developed into a working blade design. A patent is pending for the design and control aspect of this work. I am collaborating on this project with a startup company, Atrevida Science Inc.
