Dr. Amina Ndih Goron is a distinguished linguist and the Head of the Department of Language Sciences and Communication at the University of Maroua in Cameroon. Her academic work primarily focuses on the sociolinguistic dynamics of the Fulfulde language in Northern Cameroon, with a particular emphasis on politeness strategies and ritual interactions. In 2021, she contributed a chapter titled “Les rituels de salutation chez les Bororos du Nord-Cameroun” to a scholarly volume, examining greeting rituals among the Bororo people in Northern Cameroon.

Dr. Goron is one of the earliest linguists who worked with refugee communities, as is documented in the research note she published in the edited volume “African Multilingualisms – Rural linguistic and cultural diversity”, which is the first account of the sociolinguistic situation in the UNHCR Minawao camp. Her contributions significantly enhance the understanding of language practices and sociocultural interactions in multilingual African contexts.
