Prospective Graduate Students

Dr. Hawk is planning to recruit 1-2 students for entry into the UB Clinical Psychology doctoral program in Fall 2024. It’s an exciting time in the lab, with a clinical trial just wrapping up (so lots of data!) and two large vaping projects (VASP and FRIENDS – see the Projects page on this site) just getting started.

Dr. Hawk takes mentoring seriously, meeting weekly with each doctoral student throughout their training,  working side-by-side on various lab and student projects, and encouraging and supporting a range of collaborative and external professional development activities. Most graduates of Dr. Hawk’s lab remain in academia (see the Alumni section of the People page).

The deadline for applications is December 1. If you have questions or would like to meet with Dr. Hawk before submitting your application, just email him at lhawk@buffalo.edu.

Undergraduates

Our lab has served as a training ground for over 100 undergraduates. About half of the undergraduates in the Behavioral Health Lab are majoring in Psychology, but quite a few have come from pre-health programs and other disciplines. We view that diversity as a major strength of our multidisciplinary team. Many of our undergraduate research assistants have gone on to graduate school in Psychology, Medical School, and advanced training programs in a variety of other health professions.

We’re always looking for the next amazing undergraduate to join our team – might it be you? If you think Behavioral Health Lab is a good fit for you, click the “Apply Now” button to fill out our online application.
