Cherice smiling in front of a river

Welcome to my blog

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read about my experiences while I intern in Germany!

I will be interning at the German Red Cross in Duesseldorf, working primarily with refugees and immigrants. My first day will be on Monday, January 9th, 2017 and my last day will be on Friday, May 4th, 2017. I have been planning for this experience since September 2015, so I am extremely excited that it is finally here! I will post as often as I can (once per week/ every two weeks) about relevant Social Work and internship experiences that I have throughout the next few months. For example, I plan on visiting the Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland and attending a conference in London about Migration and Migration policies within Europe, so stay tuned for those upcoming blog posts!

Because my work here will be with the refugee and immigrant population, here is a really helpful and informative collection of data statistics of the recent migration situation in
Germany. I actually just recently found out that the state that I will be living in in Germany (called, North Rhine- Westphalia) registered the most asylum seekers in the entire country! Cool, right? Comments and questions are most certainly welcome and I will try my best to reply to everyone within a day or two! Thanks again and enjoy!
