Naiyyir Hossain is a student in the Educational Data Science PhD program. He is very excited to contribute to the lab as a programmer. While he doesn’t have any formal music training, he is very eager to learn how the brain conceptualizes it.

Ryan Lane is a junior at UB pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He has almost 10 years of experience with the guitar and has had five years of experience with the clarinet. Ryan’s interests are cognitive functions of the brain, the unconscious mind, and the study of the auditory cortex. Some of his other interests include weightlifting, football, and jazz music. After graduation, Ryan plans on getting a PhD in cognitive functions.

Caden Giardino is a sophomore at UB studying psychology with a minor in music. Caden is a member of the UB Choir, Voice Studio, and plays the piano. In his free time, he enjoys listening to jazz, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends. He is interested in the impacts of emotional and psychological aspects of music. After graduation, he plans on going to graduate school to study psychology.

Marissa Osei is currently a sophomore studying Psychology BA at UB. She is studying Counseling, Spanish, and Health & Human Services at UB. She loves crafts, music and baking in her free time. She has 8 years of musical training on the Viola and has been playing since elementary school. She is excited to work as an Undergrad Researcher for the lab.

Saptorshi Lamia is a junior at UB, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Counseling. She is excited to join the APAL lab as a research assistant this semester. A fun fact about Saptorshi is that she enjoys listening to classical music and exploring different cultures through their art and traditions. In the future, she hopes to become a counselor and support people with their mental health and well-being.

    Mario Medina is a junior at the University at Buffalo with a major in Biomedical Sciences.  Mario has experience in music from his years of singing in choirs, school musicals, and informal settings.  He is currently involved in an on-campus a cappella group where he continues to pursue his passion of music.  Mario is interested in applying his experience with music in this lab, and applying it to the broader context of psychology.

    Chloe Lim is a senior psychology student at UB. She enjoys learning new languages and exploring how people communicate and connect. In her free time, she likes crocheting and creating handmade pieces. After graduation, she plans on going to graduate school in Sydney.
