Written By: Arpitha Ganesh

UB School of Management: where possibilities are endless, and students are empowered to grow, lead, and give back to their communities. UB fosters not just academic success but personal and professional development that leaves a lasting impact on students, encouraging them to take bold steps toward their dreams.

As a second-year MBA student here at UB, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing the school’s transformative environment first-hand. With a concentration in Analytics and Information Systems, I came to UB after working as a Data Engineer at Mercedes-Benz R&D in India. I was searching for a place where I could not only learn but also grow as a leader. UB’s welcoming environment has exceeded those expectations, offering me immense growth opportunities.

A Welcoming, Supportive Community

Starting as an international student, I was unsure and apprehensive, but UB’s supportive community made the transition comfortable. It’s not just the academics—faculty, staff, and students here truly care about each other’s journeys. Every interaction at the Graduate Programs Office and the Career Resource Center reminds you that you’re not just another student; you’re a valued member of the UB family. The warmth and support I’ve received have made all the difference in helping me feel confident and at home, and it’s been amazing to see so many others experiencing the same welcoming embrace.

Academic Excellence and Beyond

UB School of Management offers a broad spectrum of specializations and skills-based programs in business analytics, finance, accounting, marketing, product management, and entrepreneurship, allowing students with diverse career aspirations to pursue their goals. The curriculum is designed to reflect real-world business challenges, with a focus on experiential learning that includes case studies, consulting projects, internships, and more. There are plenty of experiential learning opportunities like Global Programs and LeaderCORE.

Career Development and Support

UB School of Management provides unmatched career support through its Career Resource Centre (CRC), offering practice interviews when needed, resume and cover letter reviews, and extensive alumni networking opportunities. As an MBA student, I’ve not only benefited from CRC resources, but the experience has been amazing, and it’s these connections and insights that will shape my future career. One thing I can say is, that every time I talk to someone from the CRC I feel more confident, happy, and it gives me the feeling that I got this!

Leadership Opportunities

At UB, there’s no shortage of opportunities to lead. Several clubs at UB and within the School of management provide chances to work with passionate students in a similar field, be it through workshops, talks, or hands-on experiences. It’s exciting to be in spaces where students connect, grow, and work toward their career goals, knowing these efforts set us on a transformative path.

Mentorship and Community

One thing I can say for sure is that at UB, you’re not just gaining an education; you’re joining a network of people dedicated to lifting each other.

UB School of Managements’ Dean’s Student Ambassador program allows prospective students to connect with current students and learn about their experiences at UB, hearing real stories through office hours, campus tours, or class visits. During a recent tour, a prospective student noted how my face lit up every time I spoke about my experiences. UB has been that impactful on my journey, and I want others to experience the same.

UB School of Management has transformed me personally and professionally, turning my ambitions into achievable goals and making every step of the journey memorable. This has been a place for me to grow, lead, and make a difference!
