Phonologie syntagmatique du Missong. Masters thesis, University of Yaounde I.
EN: This work provides an analysis of the sounds and tones on lexical and phrasal levels in Missong, a Beboid language spoken in the Menchum division in the North-West region of Cameroon. The work describes the sound system of Missong, the behavior of its tones on lexical and postlexical levels, and the phonological and tonological processes that govern their functioning. The data were collected using a questionnaire with word and sentence-level stimuli and analyzed through the lens of both structuralism and generative phonology. It was found that Missong has 15 noun classes, 33 consonants, and 15 vowels. Both high and low tones are present in Missong, as well as some toneless words. The phonological processes present in the language include allomorphy and segmental circumscription. More work remains to be done to thoroughly describe Missong in domains other than phonology and morphology.
FR: Ce travail fournit une analyse des sons et tons dans les niveaux lexicaux et syntagmatiques dans Missong, une langue Beboid parlée dans la division Menchum du Nord-ouest du Cameroun. Le travail décrit le système de sons de Missong, le comportement de sa tons dans les niveaux lexicaux et post-lexicaux, et les processus phonologiques et tonologiques qui gouvernent ses fonctions. On a trouvé que Missong a 15 catégories de noms, 33 consonnes, et 15 voyelles. Les mots à ton haut, quelquefois des mots à ton bas ainsi que les mots atones se trouvent dans la langue. Les processus phonologiques de la langue incluent d’<<allomorphy>> et la circonscription segmentale. Plus de travail reste à faire pour décrire en détail les domaines à part la phonologie et morphologie.
