This year the Graduate School of Education (GSE) welcomed nearly 100 new graduates to the growing group of alumni earning their degrees via fully online degree programs. Although a portion of online students fly in for the campus-based graduation each year, most will not. To celebrate the achievements and contributions of our online graduates, GSE now offers an online commencement tailored for online learners.
Graduates receive a special invitation sent to their home inviting them to their online commencement. Enclosed in the invitation is a commemorative alumni pin allowing them to proudly identify themselves as a member of the University at Buffalo (UB) GSE community.
The online commencement is a celebration of the proud new graduates, their hard work, the quest for knowledge, and commitment to education. With great honor, the GSE Dean, Chairs, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni congratulate our graduates with a conferral of degrees offered by the UB Provost. Students are then welcomed by the UB GSE Alumni President, existing alumni, and invited to take a no-cost course on the 3 steps to Job Success including professionalizing their social media, constructing a cadre of resumes for every career level, and developing a professional pitch for networking opportunities.
I invite you to participate in our celebration, and if you are connected to the online program community in GSE, please contact us (gseid@buffalo.edu) to participate in our 2018 online commencement.
