April 20, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute Student Chapter at the University at Buffalo (UB-EERI) is pleased to announce the hosting of our 2nd Annual Earthquake Engineering Symposium on the 20th of April 2018, from 9:30 am to 3 pm.
The keynote presentation will be given by Dr. Laura N. Lowes, William M. and Marilyn M. Conner Professor and Civil Engineering Department Chair at the University of Washington. Her recent research focuses on developing tools for modeling non-linear response of structural systems subjected to severe loading.
There will also be a Student Research Presentation Competition where students from your school are welcomed to present research on topics related to Earthquake Engineering. Interested students are requested to submit their abstracts within 100 words to cmurillo@buffalo.edu by March 20, 2018.
Other activities include a tour of the UB Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL). Breakfast and lunch will be provided. A detailed itinerary will be sent out at a later date.
We welcome you to enjoy a day at UB, learn about current student research and hear from Dr. Lowes. Please circulate this email among interested students at your school and RVSP using the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/s6HrdDjcyfuTm9j22 by February 20th, 2018, so we can arrange for food, parking and other hospitality measures.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the EERI members mentioned in the website.
