November 22, 2019 – Engineering Workshop on SAP2000

“Tutorial on Introduction to SAP2000”

A tutorial on SAP2000 was organized by the UB-EERI Student Chapter on November 22, 2019. This was the first tutorial conducted as a part of the Chapter’s initiative “Introduction to using FEA software in structural engineering application” for the year 2019-2020. The tutorial was presented by three UB PhD Students: Kaivalya M Lal, Rahul Raman, and Sai Sharath Parsi. It was a 3 hour long tutorial covering a broad range of topics that are useful for seismic analysis of structures, both linear and nonlinear procedures, in SAP2000. Some of them include: Basics of modeling and meshing, modal analysis, geometric and material non-linearity, static push-over analysis, response-spectrum analysis, and linear and nonlinear response-history analysis.
