About

The student-run chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society at the University at Buffalo values the vision and mission of the national organization. We strive to be a facilitator of student involvement and advancement within the rapidly growing field.

The Vision of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is to serve as the world’s leading society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advance human health and well-being.

The Mission of the BMES is to build and support the biomedical engineering community, locally, nationally and internationally, with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; promote education and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, medical, governmental, and business sectors.

This is accomplished through the arrangement of various activities, including tours of companies in industry, hosting experienced biomedical engineering professionals as speakers and developing teams to work on various projects such as education outreach programs and battle bots. In addition to these activities, we also fund raise and enjoy social events unrelated to biomedical engineering. We are always welcoming new members, and encourage avid participation!
