Nelson is 28 years old. He was born in Nkor-Noni, North West Region of Cameroon. He is a teacher, freelance translator, Community Development enthusiast and a Student Researcher at the University of Bamenda, where he is currently pursuing my MA in Applied Linguistics. He holds a BA in African studies and a teaching diploma (DIPES I) in ESL (English as a second language) and FLE (Français langue étrangère). He defines himself as a simple and disciplined man, who doesn’t fear his limits and loves teamwork and personal growth. Apart from work and research, he loves doing physical exercises.

The objective of this socio-pragmatic analysis of names of places in Mashi is to investigate the relationship between language, society, and the naming of geographical locations in this locality. This research aims to investigate how place names are influenced by sociocultural factors such as history, politics, language contact, and identity. By examining the linguistic features of place names and their social contexts in Mashi, this study seeks to uncover patterns, trends, and variations in naming practices in the locality.
