2026 Conference Recap<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 7th annual Western New York Undergraduate Psychology Conference<\/strong> was held on Sunday, April 12th, 2026<\/strong> in Davis Hall on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus. There were 51 student posters and 4 oral presentations. More than 175 students, faculty, and guests from over a dozen different institutions (Alfred University, Buffalo State University, Canisius University, Cornell University, D\u2019Youville University, Daemen University, Hilbert College, Houghton University, Keuka College, Mercyhurst University, Niagara University,\u00a0Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Fredonia, University at Buffalo, and University of Rochester) were in attendance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chad Shenk, PhD, ABPP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Shenk is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Rochester, where he is Director of Clinical Training and Head of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Shenk is also Director of the Innovation Laboratory for Pediatric Trauma and Behavioral Health Research, whose mission is to better estimate, explain, and treat behavioral health concerns for children and adolescents affected by trauma. His basic science research centers on improving methods for causal estimation and target identification in prospective cohort studies. This work identifies biomarkers and etiological mechanisms of health conditions in the pediatric trauma population using a multiple timescales (real-time, longitudinal) and multiple levels of analysis (biological, behavioral, environmental) approach. His clinical trials research therefore centers on the optimization of behavioral interventions for pediatric trauma exposure by engaging identified targets and mechanisms more effectively. Dr. Shenk has secured over $30 million in federal grant awards from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, American Psychological Association, and other funders. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 37 and 53), recipient of the College of Health and Human Development Alumni Society Excellence in Teaching Award, an awardee of the Mark J. Chaffin Early Career Researcher Award, a board-certified clinical child and adolescent psychologist, and a Lifetime Member of Psi Chi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the WNY Undergraduate Psychology Conference<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this conference is to provide an affordable and convenient opportunity for undergraduate psychology students to present their scientific findings at a research meeting. This conference is specifically designed to be open and inviting to undergraduate students and is a great transition to larger national conventions. Additionally, this conference provides an opportunity for local WNY students and faculty to meet and network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration is free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentation formats<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can give one of two types of presentations: 1) a poster presentation<\/strong> or 2) an oral presentation<\/strong> (10 minute maximum). Presenters must indicate which presentation format they would prefer in their abstract submission. For more details on the presentation formats and requirements, visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)<\/span><\/a> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deadline for abstract submissions has passed. We are no longer accepting abstracts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
