\"Kurt Kurt Dermen, PhD<\/strong>, serves as director of the UB MI Center. He is a Senior Research Scientist<\/a> in the Department of Psychiatry, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Kurt is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 35 years of experience in the development, research, and training of motivational interviewing interventions. He has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)<\/a> since its inception in 1997. Other activities that bring him joy include birding, sailing, weather observation, cooking, and dancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" Molly Rath, LCSW, CASAC<\/strong>, serves as the Center’s lead trainer and project manager.  Molly is a therapist and trainer with extensive experience using MI in the treatment of substance use and other disorders.  She is a MINT Certified Trainer<\/a>, has been a member of MINT since 2017, and has provided MI training and coaching to professionals and students in a broad range of disciplines and settings. She is also a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Qualified Teacher Level 1<\/a>. Molly loves walking (especially with her dog), hiking, reading, and yoga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
