This symposium follows the very successful TAL 2014<\/a> conference, previously held in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. It will be held in downtown Buffalo at the University at Buffalo\u2019s Educational Opportunity Center<\/strong>, 555 Ellicott\u00a0Street, Buffalo, NY<\/a> conveniently located near the downtown theater district, local restaurants, and the newly-renovated Buffalo waterfront.<\/p>\n TAL 2016 is conveniently timed before Speech Prosody 2016<\/a>, which will be held in Boston from Tuesday May 31 – Friday June 3, 2016.<\/p>\n The special theme of this year\u2019s symposium will be \u201cTone in the brain and the world: Bridging linguistic and psychological perspectives.\u201d We especially invite contributions which focus on the mental representation of tone and tonal processes, tone from a cross-linguistic perspective, or both. The symposium will continue the tradition of the previous four symposia, aiming to present state-of-the\u2013art research on the typological, phonetic, phonological, psycholinguistic, acquisitional, and technological aspects of tonal contrasts. We invite contributions from all these areas.
