Janet Morrow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Janet R. Morrow is a SUNY Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo. She was raised in Los Angeles, California and moved up the coast to study chemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning her B.S. and doing research with Profs. Peter Ford and Barbara Prezelin. She moved across the country to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to earn her Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Joseph Templeton. From there, she did postdoctoral work for three years; first at the University Bordeaux, France on an NSF postdoctoral fellowship (Prof. Didier Astruc) and then at the University of California, San Diego (Prof. William Trogler). She started her independent career at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York and moved up through the ranks to her current position as SUNY Distinguished Professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research interests are in the field of bioinorganic chemistry with a current focus on transition metal ion complexes as probes for biomedical imaging. Her research contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the American Chemical Society Schoellkopf Medal, UB Exceptional Scholar, Alfred P. Sloan fellowship, NIH First award, and the NSF Special Award for Creativity. She was an associate editor of the ACS journal Inorganic Chemistry from 2014-2024<\/em>. She is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).  She is a member of the board of the World Molecular Imaging Society and is the treasurer of the Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
