Piecing together the components of objects in everyday life follows an intuitive set of rules that humanity has understood for thousands of years. By contrast, the rules that govern the placement of single atoms and groups of atoms\u2014or molecules\u2014have only recently been discovered. The science of synthesis continues to bear fruit in discovering new methods of assembling the fundamental building blocks of nature, and this is our main goal in the Lacy research group. As inorganic chemists, we leverage our expertise with first-row transition metal elements, focusing on Mn, Fe, and Ti because of their abundance and\u2014for Mn and Fe\u2014biological significance. These studies have resulted in new methods assembling atoms at carbon, which is the essential science of designing and preparing pharmaceutical compounds.<\/p>\n<p>We are not accepting new postdoctoral scholars at this time.
