Masters thesis, University of Yaounde I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EN: This work presents a descriptive study of the phonology of Fa\u014b, a language spoken in the Menchum subdivision in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Phonological data consists of the speech of native speakers of Fa\u014b living in the regions of Fang, Wum, and Yaounde. The author used a structural phonological approach to analyze the sounds and tones of the language, applying autosegmental phonology to analyze the tones of Fa\u014b and a generative model to analyze the phonological and tonological processes of the language. In Fa\u014b, the author proposes a phonological system with 38 consonants and 11 vowels, with 5 syllabic structures. Fa\u014b is a tonal language with 3 underlying tones and 4 tones generated through tonological processes. The final output of this work is a comprehensive phonological description of Fa\u014b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FR: Ce travail pr\u00e9sente une investigation descriptive de la phonologie de la langue Fa\u014b, une langue qui se parle dans la subdivision Menchum dans la R\u00e9gion du Nord-Ouest Cameroun. Les donn\u00e9es phonologiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 collect\u00e9es aupr\u00e8s de locuteurs Fang r\u00e9sidant \u00e0 Fang, Wum (pas loin de Fang) et Yaounde. L\u2019auteur a utilis\u00e9 une approche phonologique structurelle pour analyser les sons et tons de la langue, et applique la phonologie autosegmentale pour analyser les tons du Fa\u014b et un mod\u00e8le g\u00e9n\u00e9ratif pour analyser les proc\u00e9dures phonologiques et tonologiques de la langue. Dans le Fa\u014b, l\u2019auteur propose un syst\u00e8me phonologique avec 38 consonnes et 11 voyelles, avec 5 structures syllabiques. Fa\u014b est une langue tonale avec 3 tons sous-jacents et 4 tons cr\u00e9ant pour proc\u00e9dures tonologiques.
