He was born in Zurich, Switzerland and placed as a child in an Abbey, where he lived as a monk for the rest of his life. He served the Abbey as a librarian and teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notker composed the words and music to a variety of liturgical sequences. His literary works include an anthology of the writings of the Fathers of the Church, and a method for learning Gregorian chant, and a history of Charlemagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balbus is the Latin word for stuttering, lisping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Writings by Notker<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Notker Balbulus (1969)&nbsp;<em>Charlemagne<\/em>, in&nbsp;<em>Two Lives of Charlemagne<\/em>, ed.
