In 1873 he moved with his family to Berlin and became the first teacher for the deaf at the newly founded municipal school for the deaf. He was the director of that school from 1897 to 1910.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1879, Gutzmann published an oft cited article: \u2018\u2018Treatment stuttering by organized and practically proven method.\u2019\u2019 In it he promoted a multidisciplinary therapy approach with a special emphasis on oral and body gymnastics. His life-long focus was on training speech pathologists. Gutzmann\u2019s son and grandson followed in his footsteps, both becoming what later came to be known as \u201cspeech doctors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">References<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gutzmann, A.
