It is gratifying to have strong support in the upkeep of this site from my former home Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo. My colleagues and the staff in that department have been helpful in doing what is needed to host this website and to make it accessible to those interested in the History of Speech Pathology.
This site was born around 2000. It continued to grow in scope and depth as I explored more eras and aspects of the profession’s past practices. The latest additions to the site cover early 21st century history events—what I have called its critical history period.
I appreciate the attention this site has been given by scholars in many subspecialties of the field. I look forward to reading the future work of those who recognize the importance of the past for informing the present.
