Lowes, Civil Engineering Department Chair at the University of Washington, on developing tools for modeling the non-linear response of structural systems subjected to severe loading.\u00a0 There will also be a student research competition where students are welcome to present research topics on earthquake engineering or any other experience\/topics related to earthquakes in general.\u00a0 Other activities include a tour of the UB Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL).\u00a0 Breakfast and lunch will be provided.\u00a0 Students from universities across Northeastern US and Canada are also invited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UB EERI is organizing the 2nd Annual Earthquake Engineering Symposium.\u00a0 The keynote presentation will be given by Dr. Laura N.
