Odom Jr. recently released\u00a0his third full-length album and first of original material, entitled\u00a0\u201cMr,\u201d and also starred alongside Cynthia Erivo in the Harriet Tubman biopic \u201cHarriet.\u201d<a id=\"_Hlk32924397\" name=\"_Hlk32924397\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He will continue to captivate audiences in \u201cThe Many Saints of Newark,\u201d a prequel to\u00a0David Chase\u2019s Award-winning HBO series \u201dThe Sopranos\u201d in theaters this Spring, and lend his voice in Josh Gad\u2019s new animated musical-comedy series \u201cCentral Park\u201d for Apple TV+. He recently wrapped production on the movie adaptation of the Olivier Award-nominated play \u201cOne Night in Miami,\u201d directed by Regina King, where he portrays legendary singer Sam Cooke and performs all of his original songs; the feature film \u201cMusic,\u201d written and directed by singer-songwriter Sia; and \u201cNeedle in A Timestack,\u201d written and directed by John Ridley. Additional film and television credits include \u201cMurder on the Orient Express,\u201d\u00a0\u201cOnly,\u201d \u201cRed Tails\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cSmash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Odom Jr. is best\u00a0known for his breakout role as Aaron Burr in the smash hit Broadway musical \u201cHamilton,\u201d<i>\u00a0<\/i>for which\u00a0he\u00a0won\u00a0the\u00a0Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the original cast recording. He made his Broadway debut in\u00a0\u201cRENT\u201d\u00a0at the age of 17.\u00a0He also starred opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda and Karen\u00a0Olivo\u00a0in a 2014 City Center Encores! revival of Jonathan Larson\u2019s\u00a0\u201cTick, Tick\u2026Boom!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In December 2017, Odom Jr. returned to the New York City stage in a solo concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The cabaret-style performance was crafted around signature songs and music that shaped this artist&#8217;s journey, all performed with a world-class band in front of a live audience. The show was filmed for broadcast as an hour-long PBS special as part of the 17-time Emmy Award-winning series, \u201cLive from Lincoln Center,\u201d and premiered in April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>A Grammy Award-winning recording artist, Odom Jr.\u2019s self-titled debut album was part-funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign and released in 2014 by Borderlight Entertainment, Inc. In June 2016, the album was re-released with additional material and charted at #1 on the Billboard Jazz chart and #147 on the Billboard 200. In winter 2017, he re-released \u201cSimply Christmas\u201d as a deluxe edition with new arrangements and new songs. The holiday album hit #1 on iTunes and Billboard Jazz Charts.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2018, Odom Jr. added the title of author to his resume with the release of his book \u2013 \u201cFailing Up: How to Take Risks, Aim Higher and Never Stop Learning.\u201d Written in the style of a commencement speech, the book brings together what Odom Jr. has learned in life so far, tapping into universal themes of starting something new, following your passions, discovering your own potential, and surrounding yourself with the right people. \u201cFailing Up\u201d is about unlocking your true potential and making your dreams come true even when it seems impossible.
