{"id":7062,"date":"2017-12-11T14:29:19","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T19:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gsa.buffalo.edu\/?p=7062"},"modified":"2017-12-11T14:29:19","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T19:29:19","slug":"national-science-foundation-application-development-workshop-for-first-year-ph-d-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/gsa\/2017\/12\/11\/national-science-foundation-application-development-workshop-for-first-year-ph-d-students\/","title":{"rendered":"National Science Foundation Application Development Workshop for First Year Ph.D. Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gsa.buffalo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/NSF.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7063\" src=\"http:\/\/gsa.buffalo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/NSF.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"103\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) Workshops for First Year Ph.D. students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would you like to be<strong> fully<\/strong> funded for graduate school?\u00a0 Many students think that they will be \u201cfully funded\u201d throughout their graduate programs but they really have a Teaching Assistantship (TA position) where they are paid to teach 20 hours a week.\u00a0 <strong>A fellowship like the NSF GRFP is truly a fully funded award.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NSF awards three-year scholarships for graduate study in mathematical, physical, biological, engineering and behavioral and social sciences, including the history of science.\u00a0 This fellowship carries a stipend of $32,000 per year plus a cost of education allowance to cover tuition and fees for three years. \u00a0This is a significant graduate fellowship that affords students the freedom to focus on their research and lessen the time to degree completion.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify, applicants must be US citizens, have US national status or be permanent residents, intend to pursue a research-based master\u2019s or Ph.D. program in an NSF-supported field.
