WHY IS THIS HEARING IMPORTANT:<\/strong><\/p>\n During\u00a0this pandemic when students are facing financial hardships,\u00a0the Board of Trustees is looking to raise tuition,<\/strong>\u00a0which may be up to $1,000. SUNY should not be unjustly\u00a0placing the financial\u00a0struggles of the institution on students’ backs and must seek state support instead,\u00a0as a public\u00a0university system.<\/p>\n This hearing is an opportunity for students\u00a0to\u00a0hold the Board of Trustees accountable<\/strong>\u00a0to the students, and raise the alarm on the insurmountable hardships we have been facing: mental health, international student concerns racial\u00a0justice, accessibility\u00a0services, and difficulties encountered\u00a0with online learning.<\/p>\n They are only giving each\u00a0student 3 minutes to speak, but that\u00a03 minutes can turn into 300 minutes with a massive student movement of diverse voices that will shake the table.\u00a0Our time is NOW.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n This is THE MOST IMPORTANT\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0stop tuition increase<\/strong>\u00a0and make our voices heard.
