SUMMARY:Interdisciplinary Social Science Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Sociology Graduate Student Association will be hosting an Interdisciplinary Social Science Symposium (ISSS) on Tuesday\, March 11th (description below).  We are hoping to attract Graduate students from a wide array of disciplines to discuss their current research and exchange ideas with one another. \nThis ISSS is meant for researchers at all stages (including first year students)\, and the more participants the better!  Attached is a submission form which is due by 2/25\, and it includes a brief description of the symposium.  Please  email completed submission forms to Jared at jaredstr@buffalo.edu.  This is a great opportunity for graduate students to refine their research projects\, and to add something to their CV. \nIn addition to the Symposium\, we will be having a Keynote Speaker.  The speaker is Phil Veliz\, a recent Graduate of the UB Sociology PhD program that is currently a Research Fellow at the University at Michigan.  His CV is here for anyone that is interested in taking a look. \n************************************************************************************************************************************************** \nInterdisciplinary Social Science Symposium (ISSS) \nRethinking the Human Experience: An Interdisciplinary Conversation \nThe Sociology Graduate Student Association is excited to announce the First Annual Interdisciplinary Social Science Symposium (ISSS) on Tuesday\, March 11th\, from 1:00pm-6:00pm.  The theme for the symposium is “Rethinking the Human Experience: An Interdisciplinary Conversation.”  The purpose of the ISSS is to bring together graduate students that have similar substantive interests\, but approach their research with different theoretical and disciplinary perspectives.  Submissions will be organized into substantive sessions\, and participants will be able to select between roundtable\, panel\, and poster session formats.  Food and beverage will be provided for all participants.

SUMMARY:French Connection Spring Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Bonjour à tous\, \nWe are excited to invite you to our spring dinner\, on Tuesday March 11 at 7pm in 904 Clemens. The theme of the dinner is “Francophone Cuisines of the Americas.” We would like to take you on a culinary adventure throughout the different French speaking areas of the American continents. \nFrom the French Caribbean\, we will be serving accras\, a fish fritter\, a perfect snack/appetizer. \nMoving to Louisiana\, a nice serving of Jambalaya\, a typical dish from the state\, should transport you to the French Quarter of New Orleans. \nThen\, from the quite unknown French Guyana\, Bami will be served. This dish\, originally from Indonesia\, was brought by Indonesian immigrants\, and since then\, became a staple of French Guyana’s culinary tradition. \nAnd finally\, to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth\, from Quebec\, the pouding chomeur\, their own version of bread pudding\, infused with maple syrup. \nThe event is open to everyone\, but quantities of food might be limited\, as all these dishes are prepared by our members. Feel free to bring a dish or drink to share with everyone\, and you can refer to the poster to see pictures of the different dishes. \nWe hope to see you next Tuesday\, \n— \nThe French Connection \nFind us on Facebook and UBlinked \nPresident: Olivier Le Blond\nV-President: Brian Bojko\nTrésorier: Dany Jacob\nSénateur: Ute Inselmann\nSecrétaire: Fremio Sepulveda
