SUMMARY:Pharmaceutical Sciences Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The “10th Annual Pharmaceutical Sciences Symposium” is an information exchange exercise where students will discuss their research with a prominent UB Pharmaceutical Science Alumnus\, who will also present a keynote speech. This year\, we are honored to host Dr. Steven Hansel. Dr. Hansel graduated from Dr. Marilyn Morris’s lab and is now working as a Senior Director at Pfizer. Current students will have the opportunity to meet individually and in groups with Dr. Hansel to discuss research\, gain contacts\, and learn more about pharmaceutical science industry opportunities. Also\, a formal Professional Development luncheon will be hosted by Dr. Hansel where graduate students will have the opportunity to develop alumni relationships and obtain guidance in securing a position in academia or industry. The keynote speech will be of interest to graduate students from a variety of disciplines including\, but not limited to\, Biological Sciences\, Pharmacy\, RPCI\, Pharmacology/Toxicology\, Chemistry\, and Chemical Engineering. We firmly believe that affording graduate students the opportunity to meet and interact with such a distinguished scholar will greatly enhance their graduate school experience and inspire them to strive for similar success. A detailed description of the event will be advertised appropriately such that any interested person at the University might benefit from the event. The GSA will be visibly acknowledged as a cosponsor of the event.

SUMMARY:Race ~ Road Less Traveled Productions
DESCRIPTION:Tickets on sale April 14th at the SBI Ticket Office (221 Student Union) for $5 each. 2 per UB ID.\nA wealthy executive is charged with assault; two comfortably established lawyers (one black\, one white) undertake his defense\, with characteristic jaded detachment: an open-and-shut case\, business as usual. But the case becomes far more complex when their ambitious young assistant forces the attorneys to confront the role of color in both the crime and also in their perceptions of that crime. RLTP presents the work of master playwright David Mamet for the first time in this gripping new drama\, resplendent in Mamet’s trademark humor\, rapid-fire repartee\, and unique blend of profundity and profanity\, as his characters grapple with the most combustible four-letter word of all – race.
