DESCRIPTION:                     Postcards from California: A Biographical Study of James Tenney’s Postal Pieces \n\nEric Smigel \n\nAmerican composer\, pianist\, theorist\, and teacher James Tenney (1934–2006) will be the subject of a guest lecture by Prof. Eric Smigel (SDSU) on Dec. 3rd\, 2013. Prof. Smigel is conducting exclusive research with the Tenney estate into the life and work of James Tenney and will discuss features of both the composer’s work and the methodology and difficulties involved in conducting biographical research. Prof. Smigel teaches musicology at SDSU and has taught and written on a wide variety of issue related to music history\, research and modern music. \n                                                             \n
