{"id":231,"date":"2019-09-05T18:09:10","date_gmt":"2019-09-05T18:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/glaciermodelinglab\/?page_id=231"},"modified":"2025-09-16T19:13:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T19:13:06","slug":"group-meetings","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/glaciermodelinglab\/group-meetings\/","title":{"rendered":"Group meetings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We meet weekly in the Glacier Modeling Lab to learn from each other and from external sources.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals and themes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build team camaraderie &#8211; put time into our personal relationships within the lab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grow our glaciology brains by reading and discussing papers and seeing each other present research in progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spur research output by presenting results to each other even at early dates, before results are fully ready  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss important current issues in science, glaciology, EDI, academia, industry, policy, or other (unlimited)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fall 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We will have group meeting every Tuesday, 1:00-2:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will have a writing retreat every other Monday, 1:00-4:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>September 2 (Actually held September 4): First meeting, PhD students &amp; Kristin, planning and goals for the meetings this semester<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>September 9 (Actually held September 11): SMART goal setting (academic and personal goals for the semester for each of us), PhD students &amp; Kristin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>September 16: First full group meeting.
