Welcome to the Social Self Lab Page!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Our work focuses on how individuals fulfill their social needs and navigate a social world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, we have been\u00a0especially interested in collective effervescence — the feeling of connection and transcendence that people sometimes get when they are in crowds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also research how individuals use non-human things, such as comfort foods and favorite television shows, to fulfill social needs; how individuals feel in group social settings; and how technology influences individuals\u2019 views of self and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our lab is made up of both graduate students and undergraduate research assistants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of our graduate students run independent studies as well as collaborate with one another within the lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
