Diversity in research: strength in multicultural collaborations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I welcome and seek students from all backgrounds into my research group. Not only is this just, but also practical because there is truly strength to be found in diversity. When students from different cultures and backgrounds come together, they generate a range of comprehensive ideas and innovative approaches shaped by their unique experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My research promotes sustainable engineering. I collaborate with industry and faculty in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, India, and China on projects. An especially impactful aspect of my recent collaborative work is in support of the electrification of villages in rural India which are far from the grids. This can be a sensitive topic since there is limited electricity and there are cultural factors that must be considered in rationing this power. To be successful in this work, it is necessary to understand these problems. I attribute my success in this work to my relationship with the international community. My research in the area of modeling co-farming networks to improve coop food programs also serves diverse communities. This work support sustainable farming and provides affordable access to improved nutritional quality of food, specifically for low-to-moderate income communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
