Witnessing for Mental Health

In collaboration with the National Witness Project (Dee Johnson, Director), a community-based organization, we are seeking to understand and address mental health service barriers in Buffalo’s Black community.

Through this community-based participatory research we are developing a novel health communication outreach program call Witnessing for Mental Health. This program was designed in collaboration with members of Buffalo’s underserved and never-served communities – primarily those on Buffalo’s East Side. The program is delivered by community health workers and aims to reduce mental health stigma, increase mental health awareness, and navigate people to mental health services.
