{"id":885,"date":"2015-02-17T21:50:14","date_gmt":"2015-02-17T21:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bap-home.net\/cus\/?post_type=work&amp;p=885"},"modified":"2015-02-17T21:50:14","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T21:50:14","slug":"governance-in-erie-county-a-foundation-for-understanding-and-action","status":"publish","type":"work","link":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/work\/governance-in-erie-county-a-foundation-for-understanding-and-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Governance in Erie County: A Foundation for Understanding and Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This study introduced regionalism in the Buffalo metropolitan region and ignited over a decade of debate and discussion regionalism and city-county consolidation.\u00a0 At the request of late UB President, William Griener, the UB Center organized a research team consisting of faculty from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.\u00a0 The Governance Project, as it was called, was based on the premise that a energetic and prosperous region required competent, informed decision making, especially in the public sector.\u00a0 Its goal was to \u201cencourage and advance dialogue on how to create a responsive, cost-effective structure of governance and to propose action steps to support that critically important effort.\u201d The report spawned a shift in regional governance and led to the founding of the UB Regional Institute in 1997 to create a framework for supporting regional action in Western New York.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":916,"template":"","work-type":[44],"class_list":["post-885","work","type-work","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","work-type-landmark-projects"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/work\/885","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/work"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/work"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/work\/885\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/916"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=885"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"work-type","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ubwp.buffalo.edu\/aps-cus\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/work-type?post=885"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
