About the shadowing program
The physician shadowing program provides an unparalleled opportunity for undergraduate students to spend a day with a Buffalo-area physician. While volunteering is a valuable experience, and highly regarded by admissions committees, shadowing provides students with a one-on-one interaction with physicians in a clinical setting.
In order to participate in the program, you must attend 2 meetings in the semester that you wish to shadow in. Due to high demand for positions, we can only allow one shadowing opportunity per student per semester. Once you have submitted the shadowing application online, you can expect to receive an assignment from the shadowing coordinator. If you cannot or choose not to accept the assignment, it is your responsibility to notify the shadowing coordinators promptly so that another student can be assigned.
Complete the shadowing application and click ‘submit’ at the end of the forms. Please do not try to submit more than once. If you do not hear from someone that we have received your application in about five (5) business days, contact us to ask us about the status of your application. All marked fields in the application must be completed.
(Note that this must be done every semester since student schedules change. Note also that by agreeing to abide by the program guidelines, students are assuming responsibility for their actions.)
Applications can be accessed on top navigation menu under shadowing.
APMS has partnered with several physician groups in the Buffalo area so that members can have easy access to these great opportunities. Shadowing programs include: cardiology, pediatrics, and sports medicine. We are working on expanding this program!
